A proposal · CGHM Associates · Downers Grove
We rebuilt your
website. Here it is.
No pitch deck, no discovery call, no invoice attached. My son gets his hair cut at your shop. The cut is excellent; the website isn't doing you justice. So we built the one we thought you deserved — it's the site you're standing on right now.
Where things stand
Honest notes,
no insults.
Your shop earns 4.9 stars across 446 reviews. Your website doesn't mention that anywhere. That's the whole problem in one sentence.
The site today
- –About 120 words on a single page — Google has very little to rank you for.
- –4.9 stars and 446 reviews appear nowhere on your own site.
- –The listing data Google reads is bare: no hours, no services, no prices, no rating, no map coordinates.
- –No barbers named — people book a person, not a building.
- –Footer still reads © 2019. To a first-time visitor that reads "possibly closed."
- –Two of your four social icons are Wix's own defaults — they send your customers to twitter.com/Wix and facebook.com/wix. That's been live since 2019.
- –Built on Wix templates that load a lot of code to say very little.
The site you're on
- +A real homepage: services with prices, the parlor story, hours, directions, proof, and a booking button never more than a thumb away.
- +Your rating up top, where it changes minds.
- +Complete structured data — hours, all five services with prices, geo, rating, socials, booking action. This is what earns the rich result in Google.
- +Built for the phone first, because that's where "barber near me" happens.
- +Loads in well under a second on hand-written code — no page builder tax.
- +Your Facebook and Instagram, correctly linked. Nothing pointing at Wix.
- +Live "Open now / opens at 10" status, computed in your timezone.
- +Your Acuity booking untouched. Same link, same calendar, same workflow.
What we built
The details
that do the work.
Everything here is finished and running. Nothing on this page is a mockup.
Found by neighbors
Written and marked up for "barber Downers Grove," "hot towel shave near me," and the surrounding towns — Westmont, Lisle, Woodridge, Darien, Oak Brook.
Booking, preserved
Every button points at your existing Acuity calendar. Nothing to migrate, no new system to learn, no risk to the schedule you already run.
Fast on a phone
Static pages, compressed images, no tracker soup. Speed is a ranking factor and a patience factor.
Priced in the open
All five services with prices, so the person deciding between you and the chain shop can decide.
Accessible & correct
Keyboard navigation, real contrast, sensible headings, alt text. Your dad-with-a-stroller and your grandfather both get through it.
Yours to keep
Plain HTML and CSS on your own domain. No platform lock-in, no monthly hostage situation. If you fire us, you keep the site.
One thing still needs you: three or four real review quotes to pull in from your Google page, and the names of your barbers if you'd like them on the site. Both are included — send them over and we'll add them.
What it costs
Two ways
to do this.
The build is already finished, so there's no discovery phase to bill for. Both options include moving crownedbarber.com across — that's the fiddly part, and it's on us.
Site & care
A haircut and a half. No setup fee, no contract, cancel any time. First payment when you say go.
- ✓This site, launched on crownedbarber.com
- ✓Hosting, security certificate, backups, uptime monitoring
- ✓Unlimited changes — prices, hours, holiday closures, a barber joining or leaving. Text it to us, it's done that day.
- ✓Your Google Business Profile kept in step with the site
- ✓You can stop paying Wix, so the real difference is closer to $50 a month
Or buy it outright
About sixteen haircuts. Paid once, and the site is yours — files, code, everything.
- ✓The site exactly as it stands here
- ✓All the work of moving crownedbarber.com onto it
- ✓We set up hosting free on Cloudflare and hand you the keys
- ✓No monthly anything. Changes later are billed as they come.
One thing that isn't on the invoice
Put Ben's haircuts on the house.
A cheeky ask, and a no costs you nothing. If we end up working together, my son Ben Teeter gets his cuts free. He's the reason this page exists — he's in your chair either way, and his dad went and built you a website about it.
It isn't a condition of anything, it won't appear on a receipt, and there's no paperwork. If it's awkward for any reason at all, skip it and we'll never mention it again.
About Wix, specifically
1Every website has to live somewhere
That's what you're paying Wix for. A 2019 plan with a connected domain usually runs $15–$30 a month depending on whether you're still grandfathered or were moved onto Wix's newer pricing. Check the renewal line on your invoice — it's the number worth comparing against.
2Wix can't host this particular site
Not a knock on Wix — it's how it's built. Wix serves pages made in the Wix editor; there's no way to upload an outside site to it. So this one lives somewhere else. On the monthly plan that's us. On the one-time purchase we put it on Cloudflare, which is free at your traffic, and it's in your name.
3Either way, the Wix bill can stop
Once crownedbarber.com points at the new site, the Wix subscription isn't doing anything. Cancel it and that money comes back. We'll tell you exactly when it's safe to do that — not before.
4Your domain stays yours
If crownedbarber.com is registered through Wix, we move the registration to a registrar in your name, or leave it there and just repoint it. Your call. We never hold a client's domain.
If you want it
How to keep
this site.
Three things happen, in this order. The whole thing takes about a week, and most of that week is us working, not you.
Say yes below
Pick a plan, leave a name and a number. That's the commitment — no contract to sign tonight, and nothing is charged from this page.
We invoice you, or you pay by card
Same day, whichever you prefer. The one thing we need back is access to your domain settings — explained just below, and it's smaller than it sounds.
We point the domain and this page disappears
crownedbarber.com starts serving the new site, and the "Proposal" link in the menu comes off with it — customers never see any of this. Your Wix site stays untouched until you've watched the new one working.
The one thing we need
AAccess to your domain settings
crownedbarber.com is registered somewhere — GoDaddy, Wix, Namecheap, somewhere. We need to change where it points. Either add us as a user on that account, or sit with us for ten minutes and do it together. Whichever you prefer.
BYou keep owning it, always
The domain stays registered in your name. We never transfer it, and we don't hold it. If we part ways, you change one password and everything is still yours.
CNothing goes dark
Your Wix site keeps running until the new one is live and you've said it looks right. Email, booking, phone — all unaffected at every step.
DYour Wix login, eventually
Only so we can tell you when it's safe to cancel, and grab anything worth keeping first. If you'd rather do that part yourself, we'll walk you through it on the phone.

Questions
Fair ones.
Do we lose our booking system?
No. Every "Book" button on this site opens the same Acuity calendar you use today. Your appointments, your barbers' availability, your deposits and reminders — all untouched. We'd never put your schedule at risk to win a website job.
What happens to our Wix site?
It stays exactly where it is until you say go. When we switch the domain over, the old site is still sitting in your Wix account untouched — nothing is deleted. Once you're happy with the new one, cancel the Wix subscription and stop paying for it. We'll tell you when that's safe, and not a day before.
Who owns the site?
You do, the moment you pay for it — code, content, images, domain. It's plain HTML on a host you control. There's no proprietary builder holding it hostage, and no export fee if you ever want to move.
Why would you build it before we asked?
Because showing beats telling, and because our cost to build it was mostly time we enjoy spending. If you say no, you've lost nothing and we've lost nothing but a Saturday. No hard feelings and no follow-up campaign.
Can we change the photos?
Any time, at no charge on the monthly plan — send us anything from your phone and we'll put it in. The shots on here came off your current site so the page had something real to show; swap them whenever you like.
Will this actually bring in customers?
Honestly: a website alone doesn't fill chairs — your barbers and your 446 reviews do that. What this fixes is the leak. People who search your name, or "barber near me," and land on a page that doesn't show your work, your prices, your rating, or an obvious way to book. We'll set up the tracking so you can see the calls and booking clicks for yourself, and judge us on it.
Does this proposal page stay on our website?
No. It only exists at crownedbarber.cghmassociates.com — our address, not yours — so nobody has stumbled onto it. The moment we launch, the "Proposal" link comes out of the menu and this page comes down. Your customers see the barbershop and nothing else.
Do I have to pay from this page?
No — but you can. There's a card checkout on both plans if you'd rather just get it done; it's Stripe, the same processor most of your online purchases run through, and we never see your card number. Otherwise pick a plan, hit "Send it," and we'll email an invoice you can pay by card or check. Or choose "Let's talk first" and nobody charges anything until you say so.
What does the $69 a month actually cover?
Hosting, the security certificate, backups, uptime monitoring, and any change you want made — new prices, holiday hours, a barber joining or leaving, a photo swapped out. Text it to us and it's done that day. Set against the $15–$30 you're already sending Wix for hosting alone, the working difference is about fifty dollars — one haircut and a coffee.
Who is CGHM Associates?
A small Chicago software and marketing shop run by Jonathan Teeter — a working engineer since 1998. We build custom software, websites, and AI tools for small and mid-sized businesses, and we've spent the last decade keeping a real retail store's systems running. You'd be working with the person who built this page, not an account manager.
Say the word.
If it's a no, we'll leave this page up for a month in case you change your mind, then take it down. No follow-up campaign, no hard feelings. If it's a yes, you're live next week and this page comes off with the switch.
